House Approves Another War Powers Resolution Seeking to Rein In Trump’s Attacks

The House of Representatives voted 214 to 208 Thursday to approve a resolution calling on President Trump to withdraw U.S. forces from hostilities against Iran. Four Republicans sided with Democrats in support of the measure, including Kentucky Congressmember Thomas Massie, who wrote ahead of the vote, “American servicemen and women are dying, and gas and fertilizer prices are soaring. It’s time to end this war.” It’s the second time the House has voted for a resolution seeking to rein in Trump’s power to wage war on Iran. Later on Thursday, the Senate voted 47-49 against advancing a similar war powers resolution. Pennsylvania Democratic Senator John Fetterman joined all but one Republican voting against the resolution. www.democracynow.org
